We follow the AKC STAR puppy recommendations. We train in public places to encourage your puppy to be well rounded and respond to his/her training in different environments with multiple distractions. We evaluate each puppy’s personality and never push them outside of their capacity. We take a more nurturing approach through positive reinforcement and praise.
Each puppy is unique in his/her learning styles. Furthermore, each pup differs in how quickly they retain their commands. With this being said, it is very difficult to determine exactly how long it will take for your puppy to grasp the basic fundamentals as well as your specific non-negotiables. We will be able to give a better estimate of expected length of training after one full week of engaging with your puppy. Our trainers are well versed in multiple techniques and will customize your puppy’s protocol per his/her learning style.
We work very closely with each family to encourage continued success and progression following departure. Communication between the puppy and the new family is the utmost for the transition. One of our team members will work with each family individually on the day that the puppy goes home. Additional private sessions may be purchased.
Please note that this training program is designed to introduce your young puppy to the basic fundamentals. This program will not complete your puppy training, it should be utilized as a jump start and a segue into a series of training classes. Our main focus is socialization, confidence and trust building, and a crating schedule that includes sleeping through the night. Housebreaking will be addressed, but it is not a guarantee at this age as your puppy does not know where out is at your home. Your commitment and consistency with the crating schedule provided during pick-up will optimize housebreaking success when you take your new puppy home. It is strongly suggested that you continue to work with a trainer privately or in group classes to further develop and master communication with your canine family member.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
The cost is dependent upon the package you choose. Packages are as follows:
Boarding
$40 per day
- We do offer multi pet discounts for boarding only. But they must be able to stay together in the same suite.
Introduction to the basic fundamentals of young puppy training
8-20 weeks old – $60 per day
20 weeks and older – $75 per day
Do I need to buy anything else?
All puppies will receive Advantage multi upon entering our boarding or training program. This is a monthly heartworm and flea prevention. This should protect your puppy from certain intestinal parasites while exploring the outdoors. We will administer it at our cost.
If your puppy needs his/her next vaccination while in our care we will administer it at our cost.
While socializing and outdoor discovery is optimal for your puppy’s confidence and growth, it also exposes him/her to a variety of different bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Although we cannot guarantee that he/she will never pick something-up we can provide early detection and treatment. Weekly fecal samples will be collected and taken to the vet for testing.
A full veterinarian examination will be performed for dogs who stay over two weeks.
If your puppy needs medical attention for reasons beyond our control, all medical costs will be the owner’s responsibility.
How will I know what commands to use once I get my new puppy?
You will need to schedule an appointment to pick-up your new puppy. We will need approximately one hour to review your training packet and also the training commands.
Will my puppy remember these commands forever?
The old saying “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it” is so true. It only takes 5-10 minutes a day to perfect/retain these skills. So work with your puppy everyday.
Will you keep up with my puppy’s shots?
Yes. When you get your puppy he/she will have had all recommended inoculations for its age.
When will I need to let you know if I want training for my new puppy?
We only allow a few puppies out of each litter to stay for training. So it is a first come, first serve basis. You may reserve training as early as when you place your deposit for your new puppy.
